Brown County residents have a 150-year long history of playing baseball. Learn about that history in Batter Up! Baseball in Brown County, the Brown County Museum’s new digital exhibit. The exhibit includes a history of baseball, a look at the team that played the oldest recorded baseball game in the county, a history of the Western Minnesota Baseball League of the 1940s and 1950s, and a peek at Brown County players who made it to the Major Leagues. Batter Up! also presents the Black, Latino, and Native American, as well as the women athletes who played the game despite facing racism and exclusion from organized baseball entirely.
