Celebrate the Popcorn Wagon on Saturday, September 23rd, from 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Brown County Historical Society Museum located in New Ulm. This event is free to the public and provides visitors the opportunity to tour the museum.
Those who attend can enjoy children’s activities, games, and popcorn! To kick-off the day, the entertainment will feature the Narren of New Ulm at 10:00am in the Museum Annex. They will share the story of “Poppy & Karoline’s New Treat,” and make a traditional schultüte.
The popcorn wagon will be open for business. The wagon, a part of local history since 1914, was purchased by the Brown County Historical Society in 2002 and restored to its original appearance. It is now operated by a team of volunteers with all proceeds from the sales of freshly popped corn and soft drinks benefitting the Brown County Historical Society’s services and programs.
Attendees are encouraged to tour the Brown County Historical Society Museum.
The exhibits include:
Becoming Brown County: The Land and its People, Gut Heil!: New Ulm as a Turner Town, Never Shall I Forget: A New Look at the Dakota War of 1862, and the Explorer’s Corner. Take the occasion to see Bridge of Friendship: Ulm and New Ulm, before it closes at the end of October.
Enjoy the past and celebrate the Popcorn Wagon!
The 2023 Popcorn Wagon season has been sponsored by Bank Midwest.
